A bell EQ shapes a chosen band without moving the whole spectrum.
A bell EQ changes level around a center frequency, with the amount controlled by gain and the width controlled by Q.
It is useful for reducing boxiness, adding presence, taming harshness, or making a source sit better without changing every nearby range equally.
A narrow bell can remove a resonance, but it can also make the source sound hollow or phasey if the cut is too deep.
A wider bell usually sounds more natural for tonal shaping because it changes a broader musical area instead of one tiny frequency.
Use narrow bells for obvious resonances and wider bells for tone. Bypass often and level-match so the louder version does not win by default.
