Dynamic EQ makes frequency moves that react to the signal instead of staying fixed all the time.
A static EQ boost or cut is always active. A dynamic EQ band changes only when the selected frequency range crosses its threshold or trigger behavior.
That makes it useful for harsh vocal notes, boomy bass resonances, bright cymbal hits, or any problem that appears only part of the time.
A compressor reacts to the broad level of the signal. Dynamic EQ reacts to a specific band, so it can control one area without pulling down the whole part.
It is often cleaner than carving a permanent cut when the mix only needs control during certain moments.
Use enough gain reduction to solve the momentary problem, then compare in context. Too much dynamic EQ can make a source feel unstable or dull.
