Mix Problem

Why does stereo widening disappear in mono?

Width processors can create side information that cancels when the mix is summed.

Wide is not always compatible

Some widening tools use delays, phase shifts, or mid-side boosts that make a part feel larger in stereo.

Those same changes can reduce center energy or cancel important details when playback collapses to mono.

Watch correlation while toggling mono

Check the widened track in stereo, then sum to mono and listen for level loss, tone changes, or missing hooks.

A correlation meter moving deeply negative during key moments is a warning that the width may not translate.

Keep essential parts anchored

Reduce width on bass, lead vocals, and core rhythmic elements, or use mid-side EQ so low and central information stays stable.

Meter Core helps show stereo correlation and mono compatibility while you set width by section.
