A dry/wet control blends compressed tone with the original dynamics.
A compressor dry/wet control mixes the processed signal with the unprocessed signal inside the plugin. At 100 percent wet you hear only compression; lower settings bring back original punch and movement.
It is closely related to parallel compression, but the routing is built into the processor instead of created with an aux or duplicate track.
Heavy compression can add sustain, tone, and consistency while also reducing transient impact. Blending dry signal back in can keep attack while retaining some of that density.
A dry/wet knob does not fix bad detector timing by itself. Attack, release, threshold, and makeup gain still matter.
Dial the compressed sound intentionally, even if it is too heavy on its own. Then reduce wet level until the part keeps its energy without sounding flattened.
